Obituary, June A. Emerson

 

 

June A. Emerson, 81, a longtime resident of Dover Plains, NY, died on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at her home in Dover Plains. Mrs. Emerson was a bookkeeper for Grand Union for 35 years.

Born on June 16, 1935 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was the daughter of the late Archibald and Edith (Murphy) Burgess. On June 15, 1954 in Dover Plains she married Grover F. Emerson, Sr. who predeceased her on February 14, 2004. Mrs. Emerson was longtime member of the South Dover United Methodist Church in Wingdale.

Mrs. Emerson is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Emerson of Dover Plains, Bertha Coryea and her husband, Eugene, of Plattsburgh and Betty Tompkins of West Virginia and four sons, Grover F. Emerson, Jr. and his wife, Debra, David Emerson and his wife, Laura, Jesse Emerson and his companion, Alicia Motts, and Jay Emerson and his wife, Tami, all of Dover Plains. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Buzz Watson, Walker Rhodes, Jessica Hotaling, Jesse Binotto, Justin, Ryan, Kyle, Paige, Brandon, Gregory, Ally, Lauren, Cheyenne and Liam Emerson and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Emerson was predeceased by a daughter, Juanita Emerson; three brothers, Jim and William Burgess and Howard Jacobs and a sister, Florence Schlafer.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the South Dover United Methodist Church, 6434 Route 55, Wingdale, NY.
