Massachusetts man charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property

On March 6, 2015, New York State Police Kingston Bureau of Criminal Investigation charged Robert M. Schooley, 57 years old, currently living in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a Felony.

Over the past several months, the State Police BCI in Kingston and Rhinebeck have conducted a joint investigation into the recovery of stolen property. The property recovered was identified as proceeds from numerous burglaries in multiple jurisdictions.

On Friday March 6, the suspect, Robert Schooley was stopped by a Town of Shandaken Police Officer for a traffic violation. It was found that he was operating a vehicle stolen during a burglary in the Town of Red Hook.

Schooley was turned over to the State Police by the Shandaken Police.

He was charged with one count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree. He was arraigned before a Town of Shandaken Justice and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail.

Schooley is scheduled to appear in the Town of Shandaken Court on March 19, 2015.

It is expected that additional charges will be filed against Schooley at a later date.
