Infant Safely Recovered at Colman Dock After Amber Alert Issued

KITSAP COUNTY, Wash. — A three-month-old baby girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found safe in Seattle, authorities confirmed Friday afternoon.

According to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office, the infant was located at Colman Dock around 1:40 p.m. along with her non-custodial mother, after the pair traveled via ferry from Bremerton to Seattle. Law enforcement officials took the mother into custody without incident.

Timeline of the Incident

The situation began earlier Friday when the baby was taken from a residence in the 3600 block of Preble Street, located in unincorporated Bremerton. Authorities quickly identified the mother as a potential suspect and determined she did not have legal custody of the child.

Due to growing concern for the baby’s welfare, an Amber Alert was issued. Law enforcement described the mother as last seen pushing a black and gray stroller and carrying a pink diaper bag.

Search Efforts and Resolution

Law enforcement agencies, including ferry terminal personnel, mobilized rapidly across the Puget Sound region. Tips from the public and surveillance footage helped authorities track the pair as they boarded a ferry bound for Seattle.

Their discovery at Colman Dock marked a swift and successful end to the search. The child was confirmed to be unharmed, and custody has since been transferred to appropriate family or child welfare services.

Photos of the mother and child, which were originally shared to aid in the search, have since been removed from public circulation in accordance with standard procedures following a safe recovery.

Ongoing Investigation

While the infant is now safe, the case remains under investigation. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the abduction and any potential legal consequences for the mother.

Officials have not released further details about custody arrangements or what led to the unauthorized removal of the child.

Community Response

The swift issuance of the Amber Alert and the rapid response from law enforcement and the public were key to the safe recovery of the child. Officials thanked residents for remaining vigilant and sharing information that helped locate the missing infant.

More updates will be provided as the investigation continues.
