Obituary, Christopher Chambers

 

Christopher Chambers, of Patterson, NY, died peacefully at home on Monday March, 6, 2017. He was 94 years old.

Born on June 22, 1922 in Brooklyn, NY son of the late Thomas and Eva (Redgate) Chambers. He graduated from Brooklyn Tech in 1940 and honorably served in the US Coast Guard during WWII.
On September 29, 1951 he married the love of his life Evelyn R. Masters. Together they moved from Brooklyn to Putnam Lake in 1969. She predeceased him on March 28, 2000.

Christopher was a switch Technician with NY Telephone for 33 years before retiring in 1984. He was a past post commander at the Putnam Lake VFW, an active member of Sacred Heart Church and founding member of the knights of Columbus council Fr. James T Breen #7490 Patterson NY. He enjoyed watching College football and basketball, the only major league team that he enjoyed watching were the Mets. His greatest passion and joy in life was his family, they were everything to him.

He was predeceased by his 10 siblings. Mr. Chambers is survived by his five children; Christine (Thomas) Tabacco of Bushkill, PA, Karen (Daniel) Doyle of Carmel, NY, Kenneth (Theresa) Chambers of Pawling, NY, Kevin Chambers of Bushkill, PA and Kathleen Chambers of Patterson, NY, his nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 11, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 414 Haviland Drive, Patterson. Interment will follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery, Carmel, NY. Visitation will be held on Friday March 10, 2017 at 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VA Hospital at Montrose and/or the charity of one’s choice .
