Obituary, Howard T. LeRoy, Jr.

 

Clinton Corners – Howard T. LeRoy, Jr., affectionately known as “Duke”, 64, a life-long area resident, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 with his family by his side.

Born on February 9, 1953 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Howard LeRoy, Sr. and Dolores Varela LeRoy.

Until his retirement, Howard worked as a truck driver for Nichols Oxygen Service in Hyde Park.

He was an avid softball player for over 40 years, playing for multiple Hudson Valley teams. Duke loved camping and fishing, and he enjoyed helping his friends and family.

On April 2, 1971 at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Hyde Park, Howard married the former Suzette R. Nichols. Mrs. LeRoy survives at home.

In addition to his wife, Duke is survived by his son, Scott LeRoy, and his wife, Julie, of Tampa, FL; son, Michael LeRoy, and his wife, KimMarie, of Poughkeepsie; son, Howard LeRoy, III, and his wife, Jena, of Virginia Beach, VA; two granddaughters, Cheyanne and Sarah LeRoy; two grandsons, Robert LeRoy and Joseph Marchese; and brother, Bobby LeRoy, his wife, Patricia, and their son, David.

There are no calling hours.

In keeping with Howard’s wishes, there are no services and cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
