ANNANDALE, VA – Flavor Hive, known for its fleet of seven popular food trucks, has officially opened its first brick-and-mortar restaurant in Annandale. The fast-casual eatery debuted on July 24 at 4260 John Marr Drive, inside a former Wells Fargo building.
A Bold New Flavor Experience
Specializing in a creative and customizable dining concept, Flavor Hive blends Southeast Asian and Middle Eastern flavors with street-food innovation. Their signature dish? The “walking chips bag.” Customers bring their own bag of chips—be it Doritos, Fritos, or plain potato chips—and staff fill it with Halal meats like chicken, ground beef, or lamb gyro, or a falafel option, then top it with sauces and garnishes of choice.
For those who forget their chips, Flavor Hive has it covered—they fry their own chips in avocado oil, which also happens to be the base for all their recipes.
A Menu Full of Variety
In addition to walking bags, the restaurant offers:
-
Rice and salad bowls
-
Loaded fries
-
Pita pouches
-
Quesadillas
To complement the food, guests can enjoy flavored lemonades and specialty sodas. Dessert also takes a creative twist with the “bring your own treat” option: diners can hand over snacks like Oreos or Skittles, which are then blended into vanilla ice cream.
Local Roots and Big Plans
Co-owner Drew Kellogg, a former Chipotle operations manager, leads the Flavor Hive team alongside partners Shihan Chowdhury (aka @Chilipeppercooks), Amgd Gende, and Basim Mansour. The group has plans to expand with new locations in:
-
Georgetown (Fall 2025)
-
Potomac Yard
-
Duke Street (former Landmark Mall area)
-
Huntington (Route 1, Alexandria)
-
Manassas
Kellogg said they picked Annandale for their flagship restaurant because of the area’s vibrant and diverse food culture. “We love the community. Everyone loves good food, but our flavor wasn’t here,” he said.
Community Engagement and Future Vision
Beyond the food, Flavor Hive emphasizes customer interaction and value. “Having people bring their own bags of chips is an opportunity to engage our customers,” Kellogg explained. “It makes service faster and keeps things affordable.”
The restaurant currently features a small indoor seating area and two larger outdoor sections. While a drive-through is being considered, it will require additional permitting and a traffic study.
In the meantime, Flavor Hive’s arrival in Annandale has already generated excitement. During renovations, their parked food trucks attracted steady evening crowds, offering a flavorful preview of what was to come.
“We’re really excited to be here for the community,” Kellogg said.
