Newburgh woman charged with criminal possession of a weapon following traffic stop

Fishkill, New York – On February 13, 2017, New York State Police from the Wappinger barracks arrested Desiree L. Torres, age 36, of  Newburgh, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony.

At about 1:00 p.m., the State Police conducted a traffic stop on Route 9 for unlawful window tint. The driver, Desiree Torres, was found to be in possession of an electronic stun gun.

Torres was arraigned at the Town of Poughkeepsie Court, and she was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash or $5,000 bond. Torres’ next appearance was scheduled for February 15, 2017, at 9:00 a.m. at the Town of Fishkill Court.
