Congers man arrested for Menacing and Reckless Endangerment in the Village of New Paltz.

PRESS RELEASE

On January 22, 2017, at approximately 1:15 AM, Troopers were flagged down by a taxi driver on Main Street in the Village of New Paltz who reported that he was threatened by a customer who brandished a firearm inside the cab. Troopers located ANDREW M. PLACHECKI, age 26, from CONGERS, NY at the Mobil gas station on Main Street.  Subsequent investigation revealed that PLACHECKI reportedly used derogatory language about the race of the taxi cab driver while displaying a handgun in a dispute about the fare amount.  PLACHECKI exited the cab without any further incident.

PLACHECKI was processed at SP Highland and charged with Reckless Endangerment in the Second Degree, an E Felony, and Menacing in the Second Degree, an E Felony.  PLACHECKI was arraigned in the Town of Plattekill Court before Justice Murphy and remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of 25,000 cash/50,000 bond.
