Town of Cortlandt woman arrested for passing a fake payroll check at local bank in Montgomery, NY.

01/18/17 – The New York State Police, Montgomery BCI announce the arrest of 18 year old Alexandria S. Clarke, of Cortlandt, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the Second Degree (a class D felony) and Attempted Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree (a class E felony).

On 01/18/16, the New York State Police – Montgomery patrols were called to a local bank in the Montgomery region whereat Alexandria S. Clarke was passing a fictitious check which was purported to be a payroll check from a hospital in Dutchess County, NY. Had Clarke succeeded in cashing the fraudulent check she would have defrauded the financial institution out of an amount exceeding $1,000 dollars. The investigation remains ongoing at this time.

Clarke was arraigned before Judge Ozman in the Village of Walden Court on 01/18/17 and was subsequently remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash / $15,000 bond. Clarke is due back in the Town of Montgomery Court on 01/24/17 at 11:00am.
