AN ANNIVERSARY IN RHINEBECK
Happy first anniversary to the Office for the Aging’s Senior Friendship Center in Rhinebeck, which made the move one year ago to its current location at Memorial Lutheran Church (1232 Route 308), in the hamlet of Rock City near where the town borders of Rhinebeck, Red Hook and Milan meet. The Friendship Center is open every Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All of our eight Senior Friendship Centers serve a nutritious midday meal and offer plenty of opportunities for socialization and events. For those without a car, transportation to the center and weekly grocery shopping may be available. For more information about the Rhinebeck Friendship Center, call 845-758-0571. VASSAR BROS. SEEKS VOLUNTEERS FOR EMERGENCY DRILL (2/28)
You can help our first responders and medical community prepare for the worst if you’re available on Tuesday, February 28 for an “OUREx” exercise at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. The drill will help hospital personnel test their emergency response capabilities. . The exercise will focus on the hospital’s response efforts to a highly infectious strain of influenza with international impact. The “patients” – that’s you, the volunteers – will pretend to have flu symptoms and will go to the Emergency Department to be seen by our healthcare providers. At the conclusion of the exercise there will be a “hot wash”: a recap of the exercise, what went well and what improvements the hospital can make. For more information, get in touch with Health Quest System Safety & Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Lisa Corcoran at (845) 431-6829 or ecorcor1@health-quest.org.
