Dover man charged with felony driving while intoxicated and drug possession following traffic stop

Dover, New York – On February 26, 2015, New York State Police from the Dover Plains barracks arrested Robert C. Tate, 31 years old, of Dover, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class E Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor. Tate was charged with Felony DWI when a Troopers discovered he was convicted of DWI within the last 10 years.

Troopers stopped the vehicle Tate was operating on Pleasant Ridge Road for failing to maintain its lane of travel. While police interviewed Tate, they observed clues that indicated he was intoxicated at the time of the stop.

Tate was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree when investigation revealed that he unlawfully possessed Oxycodone pills without a prescription.

Tate was arraigned before the Town of Dover Justice Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear in Dover Court on March 17, 2015.
