Arthur Williams, Jr., 93, a resident of Dover Plains, NY, formerly of Yonkers, NY, died on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at his son’s home in Dover Plains. Mr. Williams owned and operated a Mobile Gas Station in Mt. Vernon, NY. He was also a serviceman for Roberts Appliances in New Rochelle, NY and later worked as a maintenance engineer for AFS in Manhattan.

Born May 15, 1923 in Hastings-on-Hudson he was the son of the late Arthur Williams, Sr. and the late Margarite (Cook) Williams. Mr. Williams proudly served in the US Navy from 1940-1946 on the US Edison. His wife Marion Durkin predeceased him.

Mr. Williams was a past commander of the VFW Post # 271 and VFW Post #95 in Bronx, NY. He was also a past commander of New York State District 2. Mr. Williams was a member of the Tin Can Sailors Association in Michigan.

He is survived by his two daughters, Margarite Ramsey of Sidney, NY and Alice Shay of Whaley Lake, NY and a son, David Williams of Dover Plains, NY. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Mr. Williams was predeceased by a sister, Adelaide Williams.
