Hyde Park man charged with drug possession following traffic stop in Union Vale

Union Vale, New York – On December 7, 2016, New York State Police arrested Jonathan S. Maeder, 43 years old, of Hyde Park, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 2nd Degree, both Class D Felonies.  Maeder was additionally charged with Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation.

A Trooper from the Traffic Incident Management Detail conducted a traffic stop on State Route 55 for a window tint violation.  While interviewing the driver of the vehicle, the Trooper detected a strong odor of marihuana emanating from the vehicle and contacted a secondary unit for assistance. An investigation revealed that the driver, identified as Maeder, possessed approximately 1.5 pounds of marihuana, marihuana wax, and marihuana gummy candies.

Maeder was arraigned before Town Justice Panico in the Town of Union Vale Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to Union Vale Court on December 12, 2016 at
7:00 p.m.
