Troop K removes 17 intoxicated drivers from the roadways this past weekend

Troop K – In an effort to combat intoxicated and impaired drivers throughout Columbia, Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester Counties, the New York State Police made the following DWI arrests between Friday, November 11, 2016 and Monday, November 14, 2016:
On November 13, 2016, State Police from Kinderhook arrested Gregory R. Mackey, 39 years old, of Stillwater, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated and Criminal Possession of Marihuana in the 5th Degree. Mackey was stopped by police on Bunker Hill Road for failing to maintain his designated lane of travel and was found to be intoxicated. The defendant provided a positive breath sample that yielded a blood alcohol content of .12% and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Chatham Court on November 23, 2016.
On November 12, 2016, State Police from the Poughkeepsie barracks arrested 54-year-old Patricia A. Lytwynec of Poughkeepsie, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Felony. Troopers stopped the defendant on Route 44 in the Town of Pleasant Valley. A Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Lytwynec, was intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop. The defendant was charged with Felony DWI due to a previous DWI related conviction from 2007. She was issued traffic tickets directing her to appear in the Town of Pleasant Valley Court on December 1, 2016.
On November 12, 2016, New York State Troopers from Brewster arrested 31-year-old Ricardo A. Guerra-Abzun, of Southeast, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated. Subsequent to a traffic stop conducted on Starr Ridge Road, Guerra-Abzun was found to be intoxicated. The defendant was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Southeast Court on December 6, 2016.
On November 12, 2016, State Police from East Fishkill charged Wilbert A. Reyes, 59 years old, of New York, NY, with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a Felony. Troopers stopped the vehicle Reyes was operating on Interstate 84 following an erratic vehicle complaint. Reyes was found to be intoxicated at the time of the stop. The Defendant was charged with Felony DWI when a criminal history revealed a previous DWI related conviction from 2010. Reyes provided a breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .23%, more than two times the legal limit of intoxication. He was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of East Fishkill Court on December 7, 2016.
On November 12, 2016, New York State Police from the East Fishkill barracks arrested 45-year-old Shamek N. Brown of Danbury, Connecticut, for DWI with a previous conviction within 10 years, a Class E Felony. Brown was arrested following a traffic stop conducted on I84. Brown was charged with Felony DWI when a criminal history revealed a DWI related conviction from 2011. The defendant was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Southeast Justice Court on December 8, 2016.
On November 13, 2016, New York State Police from Brewster charged 36-year-old Trevor D. Cottrell, of Wingdale, NY, with Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. Subsequent to an erratic vehicle complaint broadcasted by Putnam County 911, Cottrell was stopped by police and found to be intoxicated. The defendant was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Patterson Court on November 28, 2016.
On November 13, 2016, New York State Police from the Brewster barracks arrested 38-year-old Franco C. Florenzino, of Brewster, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. Troopers stopped Florenzino on Danbury Road for a vehicle and traffic violation. A subsequent investigation revealed that Florenzino was intoxicated at the time of the stop. The defendant provided a breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .13% and was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Southeast Court on December 6, 2016.
On November 13, 2016, New York State Police from Brewster arrested 48-year-old Matthew Towers, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, for DWI, a Misdemeanor. Towers was arrested for DWI after Trooper stopped the vehicle he was operating on Route 121 for failing to dim his headlights to approaching traffic. The defendant provided a breath sample that yielded a Blood Alcohol Content of .13% and was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Southeast Justice Court on December 6, 2016.
On November 11, 2016, New York State Police from Cortlandt charged Erika W. Taylor, 32 years old, of New Fairfield, Connecticut, with Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor, and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana, a Violation. A Trooper stopped on Interstate 684 was approached by Taylor who reported that her Subaru Legacy had been sideswiped by an unknown white vehicle. A subsequent investigation revealed that Taylor was intoxicated and in possession of marihuana. The defendant was issued traffic tickets directing her to appear in the Town of Lewisboro Court on November 21, 2016. Troopers were unable to locate a white vehicle with side damage. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash which was reported to have occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m., is asked to contact the State Police by calling (914) 769-2600.
On November 12, 2016, New York State Police from Hawthorne arrested Hassan Barrow, age 29, of Cortlandt, New York, for DWI, a Misdemeanor. Barrow was stopped by police on the Sprain Brook Parkway for speeding. A subsequent investigation revealed that he was intoxicated at the time of the stop. The defendant provided a breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .10% and was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court on November 17, 2016.
On November 12, 2016, New York State Police from the Hawthorne barracks arrested 35-year-old Elvis Cutra, of Yorktown Heights, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. Cutra was arrested for DWI after Trooper stopped the car he was operating on the Sprain Brook Parkway for speeding. The defendant provided a breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .11% and was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of Mount Pleasant Court on November 17, 2016.
On November 12, 2016, Troopers from Somers charged 32-year-old Stephan J. Pawlowski, of Waccabuc, NY, with Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. Subsequent to a crash investigation conducted on State Route 138, Pawlowski was arrested for DWI. The defendant was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Lewisboro Court on November 21, 2016.
On November 13 2016, State Police from the Hawthorne barracks arrested 60-year-old Manuel D. Moya-Fernandez of Mahopac, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. Moya-Fernandez was charged with DWI following a traffic stop conducted on the Sprain Brook Parkway for speeding. Moya-Fernandez was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Mount Pleasant Court on November 17, 2016.
On November 13, 2016, Troopers from Somers arrested Luis Zumba Tenesaca, age 20, of Queens, New York, for DWI under Leandra’s Law, a Felony. Zumba Tenesaca was arrested after Trooper stopped the vehicle he was operating on Interstate 684 and observed a two year old child passenger. Zumba Tenesaca provided a breath sample that yielded a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% and was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear in the Town of North Castle Justice Court on November 29, 2016.
On November 13, 2016, New York State Police from Somers charged Raul Michaca-Chavez, 29 years old, of Yonkers, New York, with Driving While Intoxicated, a Felony. Troopers stopped Michaca-Chavez on Interstate 684 for speeding. Further investigation revealed that he was intoxicated at the time of the stop. The defendant was charged with Felony DWI due to a previous DWI related conviction from 2013. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Bedford Court on November 30, 2016.
On November 13, 2016, State Police from Somers arrested 29-year-old Vincent E. Vanwattum, of New Milford, Connecticut, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. Vanwattum was arrested for DWI following a traffic stop conducted on State Route 137 in the Town of Pound Ridge. The defendant provided a breath sample that yielded a Blood Alcohol Content of .17% and was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Pound Ridge Court on December 2, 2016.
On November 13, 2016, Troopers from Cortlandt charged 37-year-old Ruben Agosto of Peekskill, New York, with Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor. Agosto was charged with DWI following a traffic stop conducted by the State Police for failing maintain his lane. The defendant provided a breath sample that revealed a Blood Alcohol Content of .15% and was issued traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Cortlandt Court on November 21, 2016.
Intoxicated and impaired drivers put others at risk. It is a priority of the State Police to keep offenders off of our roadways so law-abiding citizens can safely travel throughout our four county patrol area.
