**UPDATED** State Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash

Washington, New York – On October 14, 2016 at approximately 7:45 p.m., a Trooper from the New York State Police Poughkeepsie barracks was responding to assist the Village of Millbrook Police Department with a subject with a knife at the Millbrook High School football game.

Trooper Cody J. Vetter, a four year veteran of the State Police, was traveling eastbound on State Route 44 with emergency lights and sirens activated when he was involved in a collision with a motorcycle operated by a 45-year-old Warren C. Corbitt of Brooklyn.  The collision took place at the intersection of State Route 44 and Sharon Turnpike in the Town of Washington.

Corbitt was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

The Trooper was transported to Vassar Hospital for an evaluation and was released with minor injuries.

The crash was reconstructed by the State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit and remains under investigation.
