Newburgh Man Arrested for Drug and Gun Possession

PRESS RELEASE

State Police in Middletown report the arrest of Carlos A. Colon, age 31, of Newburgh after a traffic stop on Interstate 84.  At approximately 10:06 PM on Friday, October 7th, troopers stopped a 1997 Nissan pickup truck operated by Colon for erratic operation on Interstate 84 westbound in the Town of Wawayanda.  Probable case was developed to search the vehicle.  Colon was found in possession of a loaded .380 caliber pistol, 44 grams of powder cocaine, over 15 grams of heroin, and small quantities of marihuana and other drugs.  Colon was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, four counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, driving while ability impaired by drugs, and unlawful possession of marihuana.  Colon was arraigned before Town of Wawayanda Justice Shaun O’Connor and committed to Orange County Jail without bail.
