NEW MILFORD, CT.  – The Silo is supporting a fundraising dinner in its historic gallery on Saturday, Oct. 15, featuring food prepared by culinary friends of Lynnia Milliun, herself a well-known and much-loved chef, who has pancreatic cancer.

The peaceful and beautiful landscape that surrounds The Silo — a farm that was the home of the late Ruth and Skitch Henderson, and which continues as the site of the Silo Cooking School – provides the perfect setting for a food-based fundraiser in the country.

“The dinner is fully in keeping with our culinary and community-based mission,” said Marie O’Neill, president of The Silo board of directors. “We are very pleased to be able to offer our building and grounds in support of a fellow food enthusiast like Lynnia.”

The evening will include food cooked by numerous area chefs based on Milliun’s repertoire, and musicians Doug White and Barry Blitt will perform, followed by the Ghosts of the Valley group.   The evening will also feature an auction of artwork, fine dining experiences in Connecticut and New York City, catering services, trips, tours, cooking classes, yoga classes, organic farm CSA shares and more. Davyne Verstandig, poet-laureate of Washington, is the event’s auctioneer.

The menu includes an autumnal antipasto, wood-fired pizzas, a million-layer handmade pasta lasagna, grilled local lamb, warm fall salad with roasted potatoes and gorgonzola and a dessert buffet from famous area bakers and chefs. Wines will be provided by Hopkins Vineyard and Spring Hill Vineyard.

Auction items were donated by:
