Amenia man charged with felony drug possession following traffic stop

PRESS RELEASE

Dover, New York – On September 15, 2016, New York State Police from the Dover barracks arrested 19-year-old Michael J. Azzarito of Amenia, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4^th Degree, a Class C Felony, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4^th Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor.

Troopers stopped Azzarito on Old Route 22 for speeding.  Following an investigation conducted by the arresting officer, the defendant was charged with possessing psychedelic mushrooms and a dagger.

Azzarito was arraigned in the Town of Dover Justice Court before the Honorable Judge Abrams and remanded to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
