Obituary, Maureen Murphy Gregory

Maureen Murphy Gregory, 58 of Millbrook, N.Y. died peacefully at home on August 19, 2016 surrounded by loved ones.  Maureen was born in Poughkeepsie N.Y. on July 13, 1958, daughter of Patricia A. and Daniel A. Murphy.  She attended Our Lady of Lourdes High School and Dutchess Community College both in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Maureen, affectionately known as “Mo”, lost her courageous battle with brain cancer.  She faced her diagnosis with a positive attitude and despite this debilitating illness, faced every day with a smile on her face and a “thumbs up” gesture.  Mo was a lifelong resident of Millbrook, N.Y. and a member of St. Joseph’s Parish.
Prior to her retirement in 2014, Mo was employed by the U.S. Postal Service.  The last 23 years of her career she spent serving her community at the Millbrook Post Office.
Mo’s friendly, generous, helpful, and upbeat spirit was admired and appreciated by everyone who knew her.  She always put the needs of others ahead of her own and was the first to volunteer to help family, friends, neighbors and strangers alike.
Mo is survived by her devoted husband, Michael; her siblngs: Kevin Murphy and wife Suzanne; Mary Murphy Campbell and partner Barbara Mika; James Murphy; William Murphy and wife Kelly; Anne “Resa” Murphy; sisters-in-law: Patricia Murphy Lynch and Susan Cassinelli Murphy; brothers-in-law: Christopher Gregory and wife Lynette; Wayne Gregory; Daniel Gregory and wife Linda; Mother-in-law, Mary Ellen Shorten and Father-in-law, Arthur Gregory.  Mo is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and many very dear friends, especially Debbie Barton.  Mo was predeceased by her parents, and siblings Michael, Timothy and Patty.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 23 from 4-8 pm at 3270 Franklin Ave., Millbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday, August 24 at 11 am from St. Joseph’s Church, North Ave., Millbrook. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
