On August 6th, Julia’s Wings Foundation teamed up with the American Red Cross at the Holy Trinity Church in Sherman for our 5th memorial blood drive in honor of Julia. 76 pints of blood were collected bringing our grand total to 377 pints of blood donated! We have reached one of our goals of helping over 1,000 people in need of a life-saving transfusion! It is so important to us to continue to carry out Julia’s desire to hold blood and marrow drives once she was better. Now, it is our mission to carry out her wishes! Thank you to the Holiday Point Association and all of our volunteers for making this blood drive so successful!

It was so wonderful to see such an incredible response from the Sherman and neighboring communities as there are so many people that are dependent on these donations to give them “Hope” for a future. Julia was one of them. Thank you to all the donors for your continued support of our mission!

Julia’s Wings Foundation is getting ready for our 4th annual Team Julia’s Wings at the Kent Pumpkin Run on Sunday, October, 30, 2016! We are hoping to increase our numbers and have an even larger presence this year! Each year, more hospitals are finding out about our organization. A social worker at Floating Hospital at Tufts Medical Center reached out to us last month for assistance. When asked how she learned of Julia’s Wings Foundation she replied “I heard about your great organization at the APOSW conference this year. It is a frequent question amongst our colleagues and medical team of who can support this vulnerable and deserving population.” With the rarity of aplastic anemia, we are one of the only sources of financial support that these families have to turn to, often times to avoid eviction, purchase medicine, pay for travel to receive specialized care or to put food on their tables. As our foundation grows, the requests for assistance are far outpacing the number we have had in previous years and we do not want to have to turn families away. All proceeds from Team Julia’s Wings at the Kent Pumpkin Run will go towards assisting families with children battling aplastic anemia and medical research.  Registration information for this years run will be coming soon!

Endless thank for your time, support and generosity!
