Junke, age 20, of Union Vale, New York, for Forgery 2ndDegree, attempted Identity Theft 1st Degree, attempted Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, and Falsifying Business Records 1st Degree, all felonies.

On August 3, 2016, Troopers were dispatched to a Union Vale residence to investigate a reported identity theft.  The victim reported to police that someone had opened a Capitol One credit card using her social security number and name.  Additionally, the victim learned that the suspect had also used her personal identification to attempt to purchase a 2015 Subaru at a California car dealership.

An investigation revealed that Alexander Junke fraudulently opened the Capitol One credit card utilizing the complainant’s personal identification.   Additionally, he attempted to purchase the 2015 Subaru by forging the family member’s name, as the purchaser, on a loan application.  The vehicle sale was cancelled before the defendant finalized the transaction.  This investigation is on-going and Junke may face additional charges.

The defendant was arrested at his residence and arraigned in the Town of Union Vale Court.  Town Justice Paul Pancio remanded Junke to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $35,000 cash bail or $75,000 bond.  He is due to appear in the Town of Union Vale Court on August 10, 2016 at 7:00 p.m.
