Linden Avenue Bridge in Red Hook Reopened to
Traffic Ahead of Schedule
Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced Bridge RH-18 on Linden Avenue (CR 79) over the Saw Kill Creek in the Town of Red Hook has been reopened to traffic, five weeks ahead of schedule and within budget.
“I commend our DPW Engineering Division team and contractor partners for completing this project over a month ahead of schedule and on budget. Their work reopened this bridge expeditiously, allowing for regained direct access to the nearby Red Hook Recreation Park. Thank you to our residents for your patience over the last year as crews worked diligently to replace the bridge and install several safety features making the bridge more accessible for all,” said Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro.
Dutchess County DPW worked closely with design consultant, AECOM, and contractor, New Century Construction, to ensure the project was completed on schedule. Bridge replacement work began in the spring and involved several safety improvements including the installation of new bridge railing, guiderail, signage, and drainage. The new bridge includes widened shoulders with the addition of a 5.6-foot curb-protected sidewalk along the eastern side of the bridge, to better accommodate bicycle and pedestrian traffic. Additionally, the bridge was raised approximately seven inches to allow for greater clearance under the bridge during significant storms.
Linden Avenue averages approximately 3,000 vehicles per day.
