Multiple Vehicles Struck by Gunfire in Two Newburgh Shootings

NEWBURGH, NY – Authorities in the City of Newburgh are investigating two separate incidents of gunfire that occurred late Wednesday night, resulting in multiple vehicles being damaged.

The incidents took place shortly after 10 p.m. on July 16, when the city’s Shot Spotter system—an audio gunfire detection tool—alerted police to two locations in close proximity. Officers first responded to the area of Benkard Avenue and William Street, followed by a second alert at Benkard Avenue and South Clark Street.

Upon arrival at both scenes, police discovered multiple vehicles had been hit by gunfire. Investigators also recovered several shell casings at each location, indicating that multiple shots had been fired in each incident.

As of now, there are no reported injuries, and authorities have not confirmed whether the two shootings are connected. Police are actively investigating both incidents and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
