Poughkeepsie – Today, heaven opened its gates and welcomed our angel after a courageous battle with cancer. Susan was a beautiful wife, loving mother, and great friend to many people. She was married to Wayne Thompson on June 16, 1984 and was able to see her 32nd wedding anniversary this year. They made their home on 17 Hasbrouck Drive in Poughkeepsie from their wedding to present and raised their family there. They have 3 wonderful children – Peder 28, Catherine 23, and Anna 19, all of whom attended Spackenkill schools. Susan was especially proud of her children and attended all of their school and sports activities and could often be heard cheering for them from the stands.
Susan (Reddington) is the daughter of Tom and Joanne Reddington of Poughkeepsie and is the oldest of 6 children – Sisters Jeanne Reddington Lloyd and her husband Fred (Kingston), Christine Reddington Robinson and her husband Dane (Poughkeepsie), Mary Reddington Caldwell and her husband Jeff (St. Augustine, FL), and brother Steven Reddington and his wife Fran L.I.). A brother, Tommy Reddington, predeceased her. Her nieces and nephews include James and Charlotte Lloyd, Matthew, Ryan, Zachary and Patrick Robinson, Owen and Shayna Caldwell, and Christina Reddington.
Susan worked at Pawling Corp for 27 years before moving to her new job at Dymax Corp in Torrington, CT. She was a workaholic and took great pride in every project she was involved in. She served with pride on many local boards such as the LEPC, Friends of the Great Swamp, and the Workforce Investment Board. She loved her community and strived to make it a better place. She was a co-owner of the Challenge All Stars Cheerleading program where she was a mom and mentor to every child in the program. She also cared deeply for every girl in the TT ELITE girls’ basketball program and encouraged their success.
