ULSTER REGIONAL GANG ENFORCEMENT NARCOTICS TEAM (URGENT) report the arrest of a Saugerties man

ARREST: Members of the ULSTER REGIONAL GANG ENFORCEMENT NARCOTICS TEAM (URGENT) report the arrest of a Saugerties man subsequent to an extensive diverted pharmaceutical trafficking operation.
Members of URGENT received intelligence in regard to a male selling large quantities of opiate pharmaceuticals in the Town of Saugerties. URGENT initiated an investigation and conducted several undercover buy operations. The defendant, James Legg, sold approximately 100 tablets of opiate pharmaceuticals to undercover police officers. On Tuesday, members of URGENT located Legg in the Village of Saugerties and took him into custody. Legg was arrested, transported to the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center and charged with the following:
James A. Legg, 51, of Prospect Street, Saugerties

• 2 counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 2nd degree, a class A-II felony

• 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B felony (intent to sell)

• 2 counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B felony (in excess of one-half ounce)

Legg was arraigned in Town of Saugerties Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail. The investigation continues and further arrests are possible.
The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff’s Office, Ulster County District Attorney’s Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police and United States Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).
