Millbrook – Gregory John Evangelista, 52 of Millbrook NY, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 30, 2016. He was born On March 7, 1964 in Sharon, CT.
He is survived by his parents Dorothy Vrooman Evangelista and John Evangelista, his sisters Deanne Evangelista of Jupiter, FL & Jennifer Oliveira & her husband William of Northborough, MA., niece Angelina Oliveira and nephew John Oliveira. He is also survived by an uncle, aunts, cousins and many dear friends. He also left behind his loving caregiver Doris Frame-Rouse.
A graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes HS, SUNY Cobleskill & Syracuse University. Greg went on to receive his Master’s Degree at SUNY New Paltz in Special Education. Greg spent several years teaching Special Education in NY, Florida and North Carolina. He has had a lifelong love of working with children, landscaping and flowers.
Greg was a devoted son, brother and uncle. He loved spending time with his family and being at Copake Lake. He was passionate about all of his various pets. He was very artistic and enjoyed any arts & crafts and painting. Growing up he was very active on the Millbrook Swim Team and swam on his own to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 2nd from 4-8pm at Allen Funeral Home, 3270 Franklin Ave Millbrook. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10am on Friday, June 3rd at Saint Joseph’s Church, North Avenue Millbrook. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph’s Cemetery.
