Brewster man charged with illegally possessing a weapon following a traffic stop

Brewster, New York – On February 20, 2015, New York State Police from the Brewster Barracks arrested Francesco D. Oliveri, 34 years old, of Brewster, New York, for Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a Class E Felony and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, an A Misdemeanor.

Troopers stopped the vehicle Oliveri was operating on Route 6 in the Town of Southeast for a vehicle and traffic violation. During the traffic stop, Troopers discovered that Oliveri possessed a controlled substance without a prescription.

Further investigation led to the discovery of a Kel-Tec Semi-automatic handgun on the subjects person. Oliveri does not possess a valid pistol permit.

Oliveri was issued an appearance ticket ordering him to appear before the Town of Southeast Court on March 5, 2015.
