Adene G. Benson, 78, a 30-year resident of Dover Plains, NY, formerly of Burbank, CA, died on Sunday, May 22, 2016 at her home. For many years, Mrs. Benson was a volunteer library assistant at the Dover Plains Library in Dover Plains. Born on May 22, 1938 in Peoria, IL, she was the daughter of the late Paul Henry Haynes, Sr. and Amy Nell Johnson Haynes. On August 22, 1987 in Dover Plains, she married Norman L. Benson who survives at home.

Besides her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Lena Peattie of Pacifica, CA; Andrea Lonsinger-Flores of Santa Carita, CA and Cheryl Hanselman of Hillsdale, NY and three sons, Daryl Vogel of Tigard, OR; Craig Benson of Wingdale, NY and Mark Benson of Putnam Valley, NY; a brother, Roy Haynes of Bend, OR; two sisters, Bernice Allen of Burbank, CA and Pauline Haynes of Panorama City, CA. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Peattie, a son, Timothy Benson, three brothers, Paul, Howard and Warren Haynes and a sister, Vera Evans.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Donald Hewlett officiating. Burial will take place at Valhalla Memorial Park, North Hollywood, CA.
