Lake Carmel woman, 53, found lying in snow, dies

KENT – A 53-year-old disabled woman was found face down in the snow outside her Lake Carmel home and later died, police said Saturday. Below zero temperatures may have contributed to the death.

Police believe that Karen Goos might have gone outside to take out the garbage and was stricken by a medical condition or had fallen into the snow.

The woman’s mother called authorities at 12:45 a.m., Friday to report that she couldn’t find her daughter and that she had no seen her since 11 p.m.

Local Police found Karen Goos face down in the snow on the east side of the Barrett Hill Road property. She was conscious but not alert, and was taken by Lake Carmel Ambulance to Putnam Hospital, where she died a short time later.

The death is not considered suspicious. An autopsy has been performed but police did not have the details.
