Open House & Car Show to be Held June 4th   

      

Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Airport will host the 5th annual Open House & Car Show on Saturday, June 4th from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Admission and parking are free.  The event features a variety of fun and interactive activities for children, families and adults of all ages, including aircraft and antique engine displays, tours, demonstrations and educational seminars.

 

Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “Our annual Airport Open House & Car Show has something for everyone! Whether you’re a car enthusiast, an avid aviation connoisseur or if you’re simply looking for something fun and free to do with the kids, be sure to stop by our own Dutchess County Airport on June 4th!”

 

Aviation enthusiasts will enjoy a variety of aircraft displays including this year’s featured aircraft, the C-17 Globemaster Air Force Transport.  Additional aircraft on display will include vintage and experimental aircrafts, Grumman Albatross, S-76 helicopter, Cirrus aircraft and airport fire rescue vehicle, and AT-6 WW2 Army Air Corps Trainer. C-17 Aircraft Tours will begin at 9:00 a.m. and run throughout the day. Angel Flight Network, Civil Air Patrol, Dutchess Community College Aviation Program and the Poughkeepsie Pilots Association will also have displays and information available.  A Federal Aviation Administration Safety Team (FAAST) Seminar, “Runway Incursions,” will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the terminal building lobby. The West Point Parachute Team will make a special delivery of the American flag.  Natty Records recording artist and Dutchess County native, Alison Peratikos, will perform the National Anthem. Helicopter and plane rides will be available (for a fee) throughout the day.

 

Children and families will have plenty of activities to choose from including K-9 demonstrations from the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and building craft workshops from the Home Depot.

 

Dutchess County Legislator Joe Incoronato said, “The annual Airport Open House & Car Show provides children and adults of all ages the chance to see and touch historic vehicles and aircraft, while also getting a personal tour of our airport. I encourage all residents to come out to the Dutchess County Airport on June 4th for a fun-filled and educational experience with surprises planned throughout the day!”

 

The annual event gives the public the opportunity to learn more about the Dutchess County Airport and its daily operations.     Approximately 73,000 aircrafts land or depart from the Dutchess County Airport each year.    The Dutchess County Airport has an annual economic impact of nearly $45 million for the local economy.
