Helen M. Griffin, 82, long-time resident of Pawling and more recently, Dover Plains, NY passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at the Ferncliff Nursing Home, Rhinebeck, NY.
Born in Poughkeepsie, NY June 15, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ida (Burnett) Germond.
Helen worked hard all her life in various places in the Pawling area, including Lumelite, Earl’s Restaurant, and Mahaffey’s Greenhouse. Helen also distributed the Poughkeepsie Journal newspaper and had a cleaning service for local area homes.
Helen is survived by her three sons, Samuel Griffin and his long-time companion Amy Johnson of Dover Plains, William Griffin and his wife JoAnn of Unionvale, NY, and Rocky Germond of Unionvale; her granddaughter, Emily Johnson, also of Dover Plains; her brother Samuel Germond of Verbank, NY; and three sisters, Dell, Tess, and Cary Germond.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Friday, February 27th from 1-2 PM at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling; a service will follow at the funeral home at 2 PM. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sam Griffin to help with funeral expenses.
