Applying for Affordable Health Insurance Through NY State is still Available
With Special Enrollment Period, Medicaid and CHIP and Small Businesses

Newburgh, NY (February 20, 2015) Maternal Infant Services Network, Inc. (MISN) the State’s official Navigator Program Provider announces that individuals can still enroll in a 2015 Marketplace plan and get health insurance coverage this year through the programs below:

Special Enrollment Period

To qualify for a Special Enrollment Period, you must have certain life changes events, such as – having a baby, getting married, losing health coverage, moving to NY State, or adopting a child. Individuals can qualify for a special enrollment period of (typically) 60 days following certain life events. Employment based plans must allow special enrollment periods of 30 days (giving individuals no less than 30 days of coverage while you switch to a Marketplace plan). Many special enrollment periods start before you lose coverage, giving you time to enroll in a plan and avoid coverage gap.

Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Plan (CHIP)

There are no limited enrollment periods for Medicaid and the CHIP program. These programs provide
free or low-cost health coverage to millions of Americans. You can apply any time.

Small Businesses

Small Businesses can apply for SHOP Coverage throughout the year. Small business owners may be eligible for tax credits to offset the cost of providing health insurance coverage their employees.

MISN provides NYS Certified Navigators to help you, your family or small business apply for affordable health insurance through the New York State of Health Marketplace. Our staff is bilingual and provides one-one-assistance free of charge.
