Long Island Man Arrested for Identity Theft of Orange County Resident

PRESS RELEASE

The New York State Police at Monroe announce the arrest of Karon STEPHENS, age 21 of Bayshore, NY for Identity Theft in the First Degree which is a Class D Felony. Investigators were able to determine that from December of 2014 to February of 2015, Mr. Stephens stole the identity of a local resident from the Town of Woodbury in order to obtain services and property. During this time period, Mr. Stephens used the credit of the local resident and made numerous purchases through online sites receiving property and services in return. Mr. Stephens was arraigned in the Town of Monroe Court and remanded to the Orange County Jail on $1,000 cash bail and $3,000 bond. He is to reappear in the Town of Woodbury Court on April 27th at 6:30pm.
