Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a Danbury man on a DWI charge.

On April 18, 2016 at 4:28 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Keith Blessing responded to a 911 report of a property damage auto accident on Turk Hill Road in the Town of Southeast. Upon arrival, the deputy observed a vehicle that had struck a utility pole. The driver of the vehicle and a passenger were not injured. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Luis A. Rodriguez, 31, of 49B Highland Avenue, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Rodriguez and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.
