Obituary, Elma T Carlson

 

Pleasant Valley – In loving memory of Elma T Carlson,passed away peacefully Thursday morning at The Baptist Home Brookmeade in Rhinebeck New York, April 14, 2016.

Born in Poughkeepsie New York June 12, 1928 the daughter of Leonard and Myrtle Travis. She graduated Arlington schools, The US Cadet Nurses Corps RN at Westchester School of Nursing in Valhalla and Cushman Indian hospital in Tacoma Washington. Married in 1949 to Herbert J. Carlson, Pleasant Valley, New York who predeceases her. Elma worked private duty nursing in Westchester county,Insurance Broker, Salt Point New York, Board of Directors Heritage Mutual Insurance Company, Pine Plains New York and multimedia artist in Pleasant Valley New York. Elma was a member of the Brush and Palette Artists, The Barrett arts Center, Pleasant Valley Free Library board of directors and the Dutchess County Mental Health Association board of directors. Elma was a member of The First Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Valley New York,she was an elder and former director of Christian education.

Survived by son John L Carlson, Florida daughter Linda S and husband Peter Happenny, Florida, one grandchild Rhondinna Beermunder son Peter Carlson and companion Debra Dillinger Stanfordville New York brothers Paul Travis and Wilbur Travis predecease her. Elma enjoyed her family, gardening, hiking, camping, nature, crafts and travel. She touch the hearts of many and was loved by all.
