PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — Authorities have charged a 32-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend, marking yet another tragic instance of domestic violence in the region. The victim, 24-year-old Brianna Burton of Centreville, Virginia, was dropped off at a Silver Spring hospital with gunshot wounds on Sunday evening and later died from her injuries.
Victim Dropped Off at Hospital and Left Alone
According to a statement from the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD), officers were dispatched to a hospital in Silver Spring, Maryland, just before 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, following reports of a gunshot victim who had been left at the emergency room entrance.
The victim was identified as Brianna Burton, and despite efforts by hospital staff to save her life, she was pronounced dead a short time later. Police say the man who brought her to the hospital—later identified as Rogerio Palma, 32—left the scene immediately after dropping her off, offering no explanation or context at the time.
