COMING SOON! “Celebrating Julia!” at The Silo, April 15-17

NEW MILFORD, CT — The Silo at Hunt Hill Farm will celebrate the life, laughter and legend of Julia Child in a full weekend of Julia-inspired events and cooking classes between Friday, April 15 and Sunday, April 17, 2016.

Beginning on Friday, April 15, The Silo will be “Celebrating Julia!” from 7 – 9pm with best-selling author Bob Spitz, author of “Dearie, the Remarkable Life of Julia Child,” who will share from his book and speak about his globe-trotting experiences with the six foot four culinary character.

“Dearie” – a Time, Washington Post and NPR Best Book of the Year – reveals the history behind the woman who taught America how to cook and chronicles Julia’s struggles, her heartwarming romance with Paul, and, of course, the publication of Mastering the Art of French Cooking and her triumphant TV career. Spitz will be available to sign copies of his book which will be sold at the event (while supplies last).

Besides “Dearie,” Bob Spitz is the award-winning author of “The Beatles,” a New York Times best seller, as well as seven other nonfiction books and a screenplay. He has also represented Bruce Springsteen and Elton John in several capacities.

The evening, which will take place in the historic Silo Gallery, will include Julia and French-themed hors d’oeuvres and wine.

Event tickets are $60 per person ($70 at the door) and available by calling The Silo at 860-355-0300.

Cooking class added! The award-winning Silo Cooking School will continue the celebration into Saturday and Sunday with cooking classes each day entitled, “Celebrating Julia – Springtime in France.”  Saturday sold out so a Sunday class has been added.

The full participation class, from 5 – 8:30 on Sunday evening, is $110 per person.  Register now by visiting www.hunthillfarmtrust.org or by calling 860-355-0300.
