32 Arrested in Dutchess County During Saint Patrick’s Day Weekend
During the Saint Patrick’s Day Crackdown period of March 17, 2016 thru March 20, 2016 members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Town of Hyde Park Police Department, Town of East Fishkill Police Department, City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department, Village of Red Hook Police Department & Village of Millerton Police Department conducted Impaired Driving details consisting of Saturation Patrols throughout the county. The arrests included 22 impaired driving arrests as well as 10 other arrests.
These details were funded by the Governors Traffic Safety Committee and the NYS STOP-DWI Foundation which for the 3rd year in a row once again awarded the Dutchess County STOP-DWI Program a “Crackdown Enforcement Grant” for the 2015-2016 Crackdown periods. The objective of this continued enforcement grant is to revitalize and enhance the visibility of the STOP-DWI Program through coordinated multi-agency impaired driving enforcement details targeting identified statewide crackdown periods. They also include the assignment of certified Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) to aid in the identification and apprehension of drivers impaired by drugs other than alcohol.
According to Dutchess County STOP-DWI Coordinator William C. Johnson “These multi agency enforcement details continue to produce an eye opening number of arrests. St. Patrick’s Day is widely celebrated across the country. For many it has become synonymous with drinking. Unfortunately it has become one of our most deadly holidays due to the number of impaired drivers on the road. The STOP-DWI Crackdown grant enables law enforcement county wide to coordinate patrols focused on identifying and apprehending impaired drivers. Getting drunk drivers off the roads saves lives, and ultimately eliminates the associated injuries and fatalities that are 100% preventable”.

Raina Bigham (22 yoa) of Seattle, WA was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th a misdemeanor in the Village of Red Hook.
Maribel Romero-Hernandez (21 yoa) of Elizaville, NY was charged with was charged with DWI & BAC .08% or more both misdemeanors in the Village of Red Hook.
Reo Revette (24 yoa) of Poughkeepsie, NY was charged with DWI & BAC .08% or more both misdemeanors as well as Unlawful Possession of Marihuana a violation in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Jaime Desposito (24 yoa) of Poughkeepsie, NY was charged with DWI, BAC .08% or more & Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th all misdemeanors in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
Melwin Pablo-Gonzalez (20 yoa) of Poughkeepsie, NY was charged with DWI & BAC .08% or more both misdemeanors in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

Nilda Dejesus (29 yoa) of Middletown, NY was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd & Operating without an Ignition Interlock Device both misdemeanors in the City of Poughkeepsie.
Andres Bernal (30 yoa) of Poughkeepsie, NY was charged with DWI & Aggravated DWI (BAC .18% or more) both misdemeanors after being involved in a one car property damage auto crash in the City of Poughkeepsie.
Victor Ovano (36 yoa) of Poughkeepsie, NY was charged with DWI, Aggravated DWI (BAC .18% or more) & Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 1st all felonies as well as Criminal Impersonation a misdemeanor in the City of Poughkeepsie. The DWI charges were felonies since he had a prior DWI conviction within the prior ten years and the AUO charged was a felony since his license was revoked for a DWI related offense and he was intoxicated while operating the vehicle. Ovano was also wanted by the Town of Poughkeepsie PD on a warrant for a prior DWI offense.

The AUO charge was felony since his license was suspended for a DWI related offense and he was intoxicated while operating the vehicle.
