Missing Dutchess County man located in New York City

PRESS RELEASE
The New York State Police in Troop K announce that Edward Lopez, age 68, who had been missing from the Lakeview Chateau Community Residence in Dutchess County, New York 
since March 14, 2016 has been located in good health in New York City. 
 
After conducting an exhaustive search of over 2,500 acres in the Town of Stanford which included search teams, canines, aviation assets and divers, Lopez 
was observed in lower Manhattan by a subject who recognized him from the media coverage and alerted authorities to his location.  Lopez was picked up by 
officers of the New York City Police Department and turned over to State Police Investigators stationed in New York City.  Lopez was transported to Bellevue 
Hospital where he received a medical and mental evaluation and was then released to members of the New York State Police who transported him back to the Lakeview 
Chateau Community Residence. 
 
The New York State Police would again like to extend its thanks to the Town of Stanford Fire Department, New York State Forest Rangers, and all the agencies 
that assisted with the search. In addition, a special thanks goes out to the MTA Police Department and the New York City Police Department, and the State Police 
members stationed in New York City who each significantly assisted.  Finally, thanks to the public, who remained vigilant and called in various sightings of 
Mr. Lopez, one of which led to him being located.
