Amenia man charged with felony driving while intoxicated

Amenia, New York – On March 8, 2016, New York State Police from the Dover Plains barracks arrested William I. Simmons Jr., 53 years old, of Amenia, New York, for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class E Felony.

Simmons was stopped by police on State Route 22 following a vehicle and traffic complaint called in to Troop K Headquarters.  A subsequent investigation revealed that Simmons was intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop.

Simmons was charged with Felony DWI when a criminal history revealed a previous DWI related conviction from February of 2015.

Simmons was issued traffic tickets directing him to appear before the Town of Amenia Court on March 22, 2016.
