State Police in Cortlandt arrest Peekskill man for robbery

Cortlandt, New York – On February 28, 2016, New York State Police from Cortlandt arrested Bernard J. Ervin, 26 years old, of Peekskill, New York, for Robbery 2nd Degree, a Class C Felony, and Criminal Mischief in the 3rd Degree, a Class E Felony.

At approximately 3:00 p.m. on February 28th, Troopers were dispatched to the Cortlandt Train Station to investigate a possible Robbery.  An investigation revealed that Ervin forcibly stole the victim’s iPhone.  While committing the robbery, the defendant caused physical injury to another person, who was with the victim of the robbery.  The victims were both transported to Hudson Valley Hospital for an evaluation.

Ervin was apprehended moments later as responding officers observed him in the parking area of the train station attempting to leave.

Ervin was charged with Robbery in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree for damaging the cell phone.  He was arraigned before the Hon. Justice McCarthy and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.  He is due to return to the Town of Cortlandt Court at a later date and time.
