Millbrook – On January 27, 2016, Theodore H. Briggs, 88 years, of Millbrook,NY, peacefully passed away surrounded by his five children. Ted was born October 23, 1927 to N. Augustus and Agusta Hammond Briggs.
Ted happily spent his entire life on his beloved Tower Hill. On April 15, 1950 he married Betty Flanigan in the Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia N.Y. On Tower Hill he and Betty raised their family on Hillaire Farm, and bred a nationally recognized herd of outstanding Holsteins that he developed over a forty year span. Ted also served his community in many capacities culminating in his being Supervisor of the Town of Washington.
One of Ted’s true joys was the sight and sounds of the Millbrook Hunt on Tower Hill. Ted lived his whole life for his family, his farm, and his community.
Ted is survived by his loving son, Donald H. Briggs; his cherished daughters, Melanie (Guy) Farrington, Laura (Brian Bertha) Briggs, Marni (Jim) Christopher, and Katie Briggs; 15 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces, including his beloved nephew Kevin M. (Robin) Karn.
Ted was predeceased by his parents, his brother Andy, his loving wife Betty, and daughter-in-law Mary Gill Briggs.
Calling hours will be Monday, February 1, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at 3270 Franklin Avenue, Millbrook, N. Y.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church, North Ave., Millbrook with Msgr. Gerardo Colacicco as the celebrant of a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, Ted requested contributions to St. Joseph’s Church, North Avenue, Millbrook N. Y., or the Millbrook Hunt, 15 Millbrook Hunt Lane, Millbrook, N. Y.
