Harlem man arrested following forged check complaint

PRESS RELEASE

Wappinger, New York – On February 16, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Wappinger barracks charged Maurice Dieyette, 18 years old, of Harlem, New York, with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony, Resisting Arrest, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Attempted Petit Larceny, also a Misdemeanor.

Troopers were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to the Chase Bank, located at 1490 Route 9, for a subject attempting to cash a counterfeit check in the amount of $1,000.

When Troopers arrived on scene, the located the suspect, later identified as Dieyette. Dieyette quickly exited the bank and fled on foot. Following a brief foot chase, Dieyette was quickly apprehended by a State Police K-9.

Dieyette was arraigned before the Town of Wappinger Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $2000 cash bail or $4,000 bond. He is scheduled to reappear before the Town of Wappinger Court on February 19, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.
