Hyde Park – Patricia A Cannizzaro, nee McMenamin, passed away peacefully on Feb 13, 2015 in Hyde Park, NY.

Born on October 20, 1952 in Cornwall, NY she was the daughter of the late Matthew and Eleanor (Schuetzle) McMenamin. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joe Cannizzaro in 2010.

Pat is survived by her wonderful boys, to whom she was devoted, Jon, Chris and Joey Cannizzaro.

She had a varied and extensive career, starting as one of the first women rising to management at Verizon; Pat paved the way for the next generation. As a lifelong learner, she retired early from Verizon and trained to be an EMT. She truly enjoyed driving the ambulance rig in Peekskill. She continued her career as a realtor, co-owner of Taxpert Tax service and antique dealer. Pats true passion came when she began teaching with the GED program at Dutchess Community College. She touched and changed so many lives. Every former student remembers “Miss Pat”. Eventually she ended her career as “Liaison in the Office of Community Services” at Dutchess Community College. Pat also served on the board of Greystone Industries in Poughkeepsie.

Our dear Pat most enjoyed entertaining at home, where everyone knew that her “door was always open”. When friends and family were asked to share a phrase describing Patricia, the unanimous consensus was “larger than life”.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015 at the Hufcut Funeral Home, 3159 Route 22, Dover Plains, NY. A Memorial services will follow at 5 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.breastcanceroptions.org.
