LOVE OF THE ARTS ON DISPLAY

AT THE SILO THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

The Silo at Hunt Hill Farm will celebrate the arts this holiday with a full line-up of concerts, an artisan’s craft fair, a kid’s art class and a gallery exhibit.  To honor its new mission, “Cultivating love of land, food and the arts,” The Silo will feature local performers, artists, makers and teachers over the 4-week season.

The celebration will kick off on Small Business Saturday (November 28th) with a Holiday Craft Fair.  That Saturday, from 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday, November 29th from 10 am to

4 pm, visitors can meet and support local artisans in The Silo Gallery.  The Silo Store will also feature favorite holiday food items and gifts for purchase.  Additionally on exhibit in The Silo Gallery will be the latest show, “Wonderment,” curated by local artist Jessica Jane Russell.  Displayed will be the work of seven gifted women whose art mixes craft and other modalities.

The sounds of the season will ring through the halls all month long.  Four area choirs will perform in free concerts underwritten by the New Milford Commission on the Arts.  The joyful sounds of SingOut!CT, under the direction of Alecia Evans, will be heard on Saturday, December 5th at 3pm.  Sarah Noble Intermediate School Choir, led by Gloria Capone, will perform on Sunday, December 6that 3 pm.  New this year, the Chorus Angelicus Junior and Training Choirs will be featured on Saturday, December 12th at 2pm.  Finally, The Kent Singers, under the direction of Matthew Travis will present holiday choral works on Saturday, December 19th at 2pm.  All concerts will be held in The Silo Gallery.

Local artist and teacher Bryn Gillette will lead a children’s art class on December 19th from 3-5:30pm in The Silo Cooking School.  The class is open to budding artists ages 9-13 and cost is $45/child.  Students will go home with a beautiful piece of art that can be displayed or given as a gift.
