ICE agents carry out operation in Linda Vista, say San Diego police

San Diego, California –  Federal agents conducted an operation Wednesday inside an apartment complex in San Diego’s Linda Vista neighborhood, according to local police.

The activity took place at the Mesa Vista Apartments on Linda Vista Road, where cellphone footage captured several agents and unmarked vehicles in the area.

“All of the sudden, I started seeing them put tactical gear on, and my first thought was, ‘This is ICE showing up right now at my apartment complex,’” a neighbor told NBC 7. “My first instinct was to leave the complex, but they had blocked off the whole area with their cars. It’s my neighbors—I live next to these people. They are hardworking. I don’t believe they should be targeted like this.”

The San Diego Police Department said Homeland Security requested their support to help maintain safety during the operation.

In a statement, SDPD emphasized: “The San Diego Police Department has repeatedly stated that it does not participate in Immigration enforcement and is strictly prohibited from doing so, per state law (SB 54).”

It remains unclear whether any individuals were detained. NBC 7 contacted Immigration and Customs Enforcement for details but has not yet received a response.
