Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation Awards $1.5 Million in Fall Grants Cycle

 

Sheffield, Mass.— The board of directors of Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation today announced the recipients of the third round of grantmaking for 2015. The foundation distributed a total of $101,948 in grants to individuals and nonprofit, and grants from donors with charitable funds at the foundation totaled $1.4 million.

 

In Dutchess County, the foundation awarded a grant from the Martha Boschen Porter Fund, which supports emerging artists and artists experiencing a significant change of direction in their work. Grants are meant to help them advance to the next level of their development. Richard T. Scott of Millerton received $4,000 to create 12 six- by eight-foot paintings that address gun violence in the United States using imagery from the Civil War.

 

Berkshire Taconic also awarded grants throughout the region from the Adams Cheshire Educational Partnership (ACE), the Gateway Fund, the Pauline Young Music Fund and the Tabor Foundation Fund.
