Hudson, New York – On February 10, 2015, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Livingston barracks arrested Maria M. Ruiz, 44 years old, of Hudson, New York, for Grand Larceny 3rd Degree, a Class D Felony, and Offering a False Instrument for Filing 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

The arrest stems from a joint investigation conducted by the State Police and the New York State Department of Labor. Ruiz is accused of unlawfully collecting over $11,000 worth of unemployment benefits between March of 2012 and March of 2013 which she was not entitled to collect. False business records were generated by Ruiz when she certified weekly that she was unemployed when in fact she was gainfully employed.

Ruiz was arraigned before the Town of Greenport Court where she was released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in the City of Hudson Court on February 11, 2015.
