Meet the Tiny 10lb Puppy Found Abandoned in an Empty Apartment, Now Searching for Love

Resilient Pup Izzy Finds Hope After Rough Start, Now Ready for Forever Home

MASSACHUSETTS—A six-week-old puppy named Izzy, once abandoned in an empty apartment, is now thriving in foster care thanks to Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., a Massachusetts-based foster rescue. The resilient pup, described as “happy-go-lucky” by rescuers, is ready for adoption—and she’d love nothing more than to bring her foster sister, Lizzy, along for the ride.

From Abandoned to Adored

Izzy’s story began in hardship. Found alone in a vacant apartment, the tiny pup was rescued just in time by a volunteer. Now, under the care of Sandy Paws Rescue Inc., she’s blossoming in a loving foster home alongside Lizzy, a fellow rescue pup and her new best friend.

The two share an inseparable bond, often playing their favorite game, “catch me if you can.” But beyond her playful side, Izzy has a remarkably calm temperament. “She’s sweet, adaptable, and would do great in a home with another young dog,” the rescue shared.

Training Progress & Perfect Fit

While Izzy is already crate-trained and working on potty training, she’ll need a family willing to continue her leash and obedience training. “Her foster mom is busy, so she’ll need more one-on-one attention,” the rescue noted.

Spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations, Izzy is ready for her next chapter. And if her adopters are open to it, she’d love to stay with Lizzy, her loyal playmate.

How Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. Helps Dogs Like Izzy

volunteer-run nonprofit, Sandy Paws Rescue Inc. operates without a physical shelter, relying on foster homes and kennels to care for dogs until adoption. They rescue pups from high-risk situations—including shelters, abuse cases, and owner surrenders—in Massachusetts, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, and Florida.

Run entirely by volunteers balancing full-time jobs, the rescue depends on donations to cover transport, vet care, and daily expenses. Adoption fees help, but community support is vital to their mission.

How to Adopt Izzy (and Maybe Lizzy Too!)

Interested adopters must submit an application through Sandy Paws Rescue Inc.’s website. The rescue currently adopts to Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and parts of Connecticut, with other New England cases considered individually.

Meet-and-greets are by appointment only, as all dogs live in private foster homes.
