DC Man Sentenced to 4 Years in Federal Prison for Stealing 34 Guns from Maryland Pawn Shop

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 23-year-old D.C. man has been sentenced to 48 months in federal prison for his involvement in a brazen robbery that led to the theft of 34 firearms from a licensed pawn shop in Glen Burnie, Maryland.

The sentence was announced by U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro, along with Special Agent in Charge Anthony Spotswood of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela Smith.

Details of the Crime

The defendant, Niquan Odumn, who also goes by the nickname “Stickz,” pleaded guilty on March 6, 2025, to conspiracy to commit theft from a federally licensed firearms dealer and possession of stolen firearms.

According to court documents, the crime took place during the early morning hours of December 13, 2023, when Odumn and at least four other individuals drove to the A&D Pawn Shop, a Federal Firearms Licensee, in Glen Burnie.

Using a portable saw, Odumn cut through the pull-down security gate’s lock, while a second accomplice used a crowbar to pry open the shop’s main door. Once inside, the crew looted the store, fleeing with at least 34 firearms—including rifles, shotguns, and handguns.

Odumn was eventually arrested on March 25, 2024, following an intensive investigation by federal and local law enforcement agencies.

Co-Conspirator Receives Longer Sentence

Another man involved in the robbery, 22-year-old Juwon Markel Anderson, also of Washington, D.C., was sentenced on June 20 to 84 months in prison (7 years) for his role in the crime. In addition to helping execute the burglary, Anderson was also found guilty of attempting to traffic the stolen weapons.

Investigators believe the stolen firearms were intended for illegal distribution, posing a serious threat to public safety across the region.

Law Enforcement Reacts

“This case highlights the importance of coordination between federal and local law enforcement in stopping the flow of illegal guns onto our streets,” said U.S. Attorney Jeanine Ferris Pirro. “We will continue to pursue and prosecute individuals who target licensed dealers and seek to profit by putting dangerous weapons into the hands of criminals.”

Special Agent Anthony Spotswood of the ATF added, “Gun store thefts are not just burglaries—they are direct threats to community safety. These stolen weapons frequently end up in violent crimes, and we are committed to holding those responsible accountable.”

Ongoing Investigations

Authorities have not ruled out additional arrests. The case remains part of an ongoing investigation by the ATF, MPD, and local law enforcement agencies in Maryland.

The sentences serve as a strong warning to others who may be considering similar crimes. With the nation’s focus on reducing gun violence, federal prosecutors have reaffirmed their commitment to punishing those who contribute to the illegal gun market.
